Fund Objectives
The
Micro-Generation Technology Fund, formed in 1997 and completed in 2007, provided
equity capital to entrepreneurial companies that were developing and introducing to the
market micro-generation technologies and related systems. The capital base of the Fund was
provided by diversified electric utility companies.
In addition
to the potential for attractive investment returns, the Fund provided
Investors with:
- Early information
on unique and proprietary technologies that could be critical to successful
execution of a micro-generation technology strategy.
- Acquisition
opportunities and partnering relationships that will provide them with
competitive advantage in areas where they seek technology leadership.
- Advice
and counsel as requested on micro-generation business opportunities
and strategy.
Our newest fund formed in 2007, SC Green Tech Ventures LLC, is focused on three areas in the
alternative energy investment space of particular interest to the lead investor,
Sumitomo Corporation:
- Solar energy, particularly high efficiency
crystalline silicon based systems, CIGS, and other novel technologies with the potential to
dominate the market.
- Hydrogen systems, including SOFC's,
disruptive innovations in PEMFC's, hydrogen production and hydrogen storage.
- Biofuels, with particular emphasis on
cellulosic ethanol technologies.
